Burbank is a city in Los Angeles County, southwestern California, a northern suburb of Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley; incorporated 1911. It is noted for its prominent movie and television industries. Manufactures include aircraft and submarine parts, plastics, and stainless steel products. The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport is here. The community was platted (1887) on land that had been part of a sheep ranch belonging to David Burbank, after whom it is named.
