Chios is amongst the islands of the north-east Aegean, not far from Asia Minor and opposite the Erithrea peninsula, separated from it by the Chios Canal. The country of Chios extends to 842 square kilometers and has a population around 54,000 people.
It consists of three islands: Chios, Inousses and Psara.
The town of Chios - Chora, the capital collect about the half of the population. The region is made up of 10 Municipalities (Chios, Homeroupolis, Kardamila, Kampochora, Mastichochoria, Amanis, Psara, Inousses, ionia, Agiou Mina) most of which were formed after the linking of small communities.
